The events The Milan Expo 2015 event will produce a very strong impact on public policies and on real estate sector strategies. Torino 2011 will host the celebrations (together with Milano, Firenze, Roma) for the 150 th anniversary of the Unity of Italy. Both events will be characterized by important urban transformation and by exceptional incoming of visitors .
Events in the north-west macroregion The main events of Expo 2015, together with the celebrations for the 150 th anniversary of italian unification, can be considered as catalyst for the implementation of projects able to enhance the performance of the two metropolitan areas of Milano and Torino and their international role in the scenary of a polycentric macroregion .
Torino and Milano
Several questions can be risen: - how can we understand the demand for hospitality , which is very different in its segments according to the different kind of people who will look for structures for hospitality in Milan and in a broad area, especially in the Milan-Turin macro region ? - how can we separate the “event related” demand from the “standard” demand for hospitality ? - can new technologies, based on mobile telephones integrated with gps give effective support to define demand and to give better services to city “users” in case of events?
Gis analysis for possible locations
Several questions can be risen: - how can we experiment innovative formats of structures for hospitality , which allow to better match the demand of non-traditional city users? - how can we relate hospitality and the topic of better, more inclusive hospitality with the general theme of Milan Expo “Feeding the planet, energy for life” ? - which new, non traditional actors can be included in an innovative pattern of profit and non-profit entrepreneurship?
Comparison of projects of expo events
