BTEC L2 Creative Digital Media Unit 3.A&B
‘Urban Net’ Assignment 12th October – 23rd October 2015
Task 1: Teen Drama Video GP day
Add music, sound effects & titles to your Teen Drama Graduate programme day task
a) Colour grade the footage
b) Upload your group’s Teen Dramas opening, along with the special effects to your YouTube channel
c) Annotate each shot on YouTube Annotations (Google search “How to add annotations in YouTube”) outline how you have used:
i) Teen Drama Stereotypes (how is itclear who each is – Rebel, Geek etc…?)
ii) Genre (Why is this a teen drama, why is this a Sci-Fi?)
iii) Camerawork (how do your shots, angles, colour tints and movementto show ‘Youth’ and ‘confidence’?)
iv) Editing (how does your editing show young people are dynamic,vibrantand full of energy and have superpowers?)
v) Sound (what soundtrack and sound effects did you add appropriate to ‘Youth’)
Embed the completed YouTube Video along with your annotations to your Blog by Deadline Monday 19th October 5pm
Task 2: Viral Mobile Phone Advert
Edit, add sound and Titles to your promotional production
a) Add effects where necessary and colour tints
b) Upload your group’s Mobile Phone Advertvideo to YouTube channel
c) Annotate each shot on YouTube Annotations (Google search “How to add annotations in YouTube”) outline how you have used:
i) Demographics & Psychographics (age, gender, ethnicity, class, Psychographic group)
ii) Emotional Appeal
iii) Viral Buzz & interactivity
Embed the completed YouTube Video along with your annotations to your Blog by Deadline Monday 19th October 5pm
Task 3: Create a Weebly Website (an address will be setup for to layout) for ‘Urban Net’. Include:
i) Home Page where you upload the projectbrief, along with a suitable Giff file for Urban Net
ii) A page on Key Features on Promotional
iii) A page on Key Features ofFiction
iv) A page on Technical Construction
Complete all Reports and Presentations by Wednesday 21st October 5pm
Task 4: Complete 3 x reports or presentations (*4 x for Distinction) on Key Features/Technical (see sheets for option or further instructions) on:
a) Key Features ofFiction (Genre, Narrative & Representation): Misfits & Skins
b) Key Features ofPromotional (Demographics & Psychographics,Persuasive/Emotional Appeal and Viral Buzz): Sainsbury’s ad
c) Reporton Technical Areas (M-E-S, Cam, Edit, Sound): Skins S3 Trailer
d) (*Distinction only – Key Features of News & Factual)
Upload or embed all reports/presentations, videos you have made, the photos ofyour camera shots, the assessmentclips to the correctpage on your Weebly

Scenario
A new YouTube youth channel ‘Urban Net’ has approached you as a programme consultant on its own content for News, Drama
Webisodes and Viral Advertising, to attract their target demographic of 16-25 year olds living in inner-city areas.
They want you to compile materials for a visual and interactive website that will outline the key features of Factual, Fiction and
Promotional Content and examples of which content may be suitable.
You will profile this target and investigate the following key features:
Fiction *Factual Promotional
 Genre Conventions
 Representation (of gender)
 Narrative Structures (linear &
nonlinear)
 Bias (objective or subjective)
 Realism (stylistic features edit and
cam)
 Structure (VT, Inserts, V/o etc)
 Persuasive Techniques
 Viral buzz
 Psychographic (emotional appeal)
Describe how key features are used in a digital moving image production. 3 2A.P1
Explain how key features are used in two types of digital moving image productions
with reference to appropriate examples.
