- 2. Participants will learn how the teaching of assessment practices has developed over the years at Blinn College. Participants will discover how the current Fasttrack Workshop system functions and what is covered in each session. Participants will walk away with additional ideas from the participants as to how they can initiate or modify their own institutional faculty workshops.
- 3. Texas’ oldest county-operated junior college (founded 1883). Approximately 18,000 students spread over four campuses in four cities. Most students transfer to four-year institutions (Texas A&M, Sam Houston State) after taking a few courses. Very active Allied Health program with ten programmatically-accredited concentrations.
- 4. Summer session Launched two semester, eight session faculty assessment workshops Trimmed down to one semester, four session faculty assessment workshops
- 5. Each session runs three hours and is open to all parttime and fulltime faculty Participants receive copies of assessment monographs and articles Participants respond to a Classroom Assessment Techniques (CAT) Inventory Participants watch short videos on assessment techniques Participants chat online about readings and videos Participants share “what works, what doesn’t” ideas during class sessions
- 7. Given the short time of these SACS sessions, we will now run a Fasttrack Workshop for all of you at warp speed – 12 hours compacted into 20 minutes!
- 8. Take a minute to think about what you’ve just seen and heard. Write down the three ideas, plans, concepts, etc. that most impressed you. Share one of your ideas in our open session during the next few minutes.
- 9. You’ve heard about the development of the Fasttrack Workshop system at Blinn College. You’ve participated in an accelerated Fasttrack Workshop session. You’ve been introduced to a variety of tools and methodologies that will help gain faculty buy-in to assessment.
