- 2. FIRST IMPRESSIONS What is the point? Not as fun as Facebook Boring Why can I not load a picture on my profile?! BOTTOM LINE: I was very frustrated with the whole thing and was ready to just not do the assignment.
- 3. FURTHER INVESTIGATION But on further investigation, I realized that the “Tweets” were actually pretty interesting. Unlike regular blogging, the updates were short and personal rather than unnecessarily long and boring. Also, unlike blogging, it is easy to posts updates from a regular cell phone. I also used the update capabilities to receive any updates including, Colorado Springs. It was nice to hear about what was happening in my home town.
- 4. TWITTER: Going Tech with Relative Ease Twitter was easy to learn and easier to manage. The cell phone set up was quick and painless and the updates were harmless. The Twitter community connects the users by allowing them to send updates about themselves regardless of their location and busy schedule. It also allows for an online community where the users can meet new people with whom they may share a connection with. They can also befriend other members simply because they would like to get to know more about those who are members in the community.
- 5. SLIDE SHARE: For the techie Power Pointers Slide Share is essentially a cousin of YouTube using PowerPoint instead of video, as a mode of sharing. The community is similar to any media sharing site, only that the media consists of slideshows. There are numerous groups available to join. In those groups the members can also discuss topics within the slides.
- 6. PERKS OF USING BOTH Twitter has the capability of being linked to Facebook, MySpace, and Blogger. I use two of these application. It is convenient to have them linked as well as to my cell phone. I can easily update my status and find out what others are doing. SlideShare makes it easy to share information with a large community and experience their opinion on the topic. It makes you a member of a community of people who are interested in the same things you are. Also, there is knowledge to be gained as well as shared.
