“Leadership:do traits matter”
There are several characteristics finds in a leader. These qualities include drive to motive,
integrity and honesty, motivation of leadership, confidence, cognitive ability and business
knowledge includes. These characteristics differ leader from non common people. It is the duty
of leaders to obtain technical skills, formulate the vision of organization and doo effective and
efficient work for it. According to great man theory, leaders qualities in people are from very
first day when he born. Then trait theory suggests that motivation capacity and pattern of
behavior are common characteristics in people. Some characteristics in people are due to
experience from doing some work. According to Ralph only having leadership characteristics is
not enough although situational factors also effect. Leader’s success depends upon core values
in leaders. Leadership trait such as drive has several aspects such as achievement, ambition,
energy, tenacity and initiatives. Among good leaders achievement is an important part. Leaders
must do some technical projects and get achievement in it. Ambition is next step after it.
Ambition people set goals for organization and for themselves. For achieving some goals
leaders needs a lot of energy. Emotional stability, mental and physical energy require in a
leader. Leaders have the ability of good spirit and have the ability to stop and overcome the
obstacles. Leaders must be proactive in nature. They want change and accept change rather
than to be waited for good thing to happen. Not only ambition and drive is necessary but they
also lead to others. Leadership motivation involves influencing the people, leads others, feeling
themselves having a higher authority and also assumes responsibility. Through power leaders
have authority leaders also empower their followers. Two types of motives power includes in it.
Little self control, seeks power dominants to other and spontaneous factors involves in
personalized power. Socialized power motive is focused towards achieving organizational goals.
They empower their followers so that they can achieve organizational goals. Leaders must not
violate the trust of their followers and respect to their views. Honesty is the big factor which
must be insure when you trust on somebody. Self confidence is an important factor when
taking decisions. Leaders must be confident what actions he had made, if it comes bad
decisions then he takes it as a learning opportunity. Self confidence gives leaders to be
emotionally stable then they are doing excited talk with another so that conflicts not arise.
Leaders have the ability to think, gather information, integrate and analyze information. Critical
thinking is a habit of effective leaders. Leaders must be hard work not genius. Leaders have the
knowledge of business and knowledge of technical things. Leaders must take good decisions
and understand the consequences of decisions. Creativity, Charisma and flexibility are those
traits that are involved in leaders. Implement the vision has different activities. In structuring
activities leaders should see the flow of information to the organizational structure. in selecting
and training activity, leaders must understand that people who are hired by him are talented
and skills of people can be increase by giving them proper training. Leaders should motivate
employees by providing formal authority, because as a role model for them, build sub ordinate.
Self confidence, delegating authority, providing employees specific and challenging goals and
through reward and punishment. Good leader gather disseminate the information to the
followers so that they will come to know the reasons of decisions. Leaders must do the work of
collaboration among teams by doing collaborating work activities effectiveness of work can
achieve. Leaders must do work of promotion, take change and have innovations in their work
activities.
