Introduction
• White Light Emitting Diodes (LED) will replace
HID lamps in street lighting system to vary the
intensity of lights. An Arduino Uno is used to
manage the change of light across the LEDs
consequently to realize the required
operation.

Aim of Project
• The aim of this project is to eliminate the
manual operations and to design an energy
economical self-switching street lamp based
mostly upon conveyance movement, using the
light dependent resistor (LDR), infrared
detector (IR) and microcontroller. Further,
potency indexes are computed and calculated
to check the energy gains from the planned
system with regard to this system.

Novelty of Work
• By replacing current technology of halogen
lamps with the smart controller based LED
lights, makes street lights system more
efficient.
• Less workforce needed for the maintenance
and operation of Street Lights.
• The controller based streetlight system can be
switched according to vehicular movement
making it more energy saving.

Future Works
• Automatic fault detection unit can be used to
detect fault at any point of street light system
using wireless GSM module.
• Solar cells can be used to generate power for the
street lights which is a renewable source of
energy.
• Load reduction techniques can be employed to
reduce the power consumed by street lights.
• Further piezo-electric materials can be used
beneath the road to power the street lights.
