Auxes & Inserts
Pre Fade Sends
When the auxiliary signal is taken before the fader it is
known as a pre-fade send.
Post Fade Sends
When the aux signal is taken after the fader. This
means that aux send level is affected by a change in
the fader's level.
Press for pre fade

Effects Returns
Auxes & Inserts
The outputs of an effect unit needs to be brought back
into the desk at some point…
Effects Returns
Audient Stereo Inputs (Master Section)
You can then blend your effected signal (wet) with your
unaffected signal (dry).
Auxes & Inserts
F/B A & F/B B
Allows the input signal to be fed to Foldback A and B
Trim - Control to compensate for different input levels
Mix - Sends input signal to the mix bus

Auxes & Inserts
When there are no remaining effects returns on the desk, we bring the output of the effects unit
into spare channels on the mixing desk.

..2 x line inputs on a spare channel (stereo left and right).
Effects Returns
Auxes & Inserts
The line input signal would be returned into the channel path on the desk. Both faders would need to be panned left
and right and placed in the mix bus.

Insert Points
Auxes & Inserts
An insert point allows you to 'break' the signal path so that
the signal can be sent to an external processing unit.
The processed signal is then brought back into the desk
to the exact same point at which it left.

Editor's Notes

  • #13: On the master section, the AUX output, ("AUX SEND") solo button can be used to hear the "dry" sound. The AUX input, ("AUX RETURN") solo button can be used to hear the treated sound.
  • #15: Most desks will have an auxiliary return section. This section of the desk is another set of balanced inputs which allow you to return the effected signal into the desk and route to the mix bus.
  • #16: Most desks will have an auxiliary return section. This section of the desk is another set of line inputs which allow you to return the effected signal into the desk and route to the mix bus. Foldback A/B to send effects to headphones - example, vocalists like reverb in their headphones as it helps them to pitch and gets them in the mood. TRIM control to compensate for different input levels. This has a range of ±20dB.
  • #17: When there are no remaining effects returns on the desk, we bring the output of the effects unit into spare channels on the mixing desk.
  • #26: inputs to gates and compressors
