The paper discusses a novel approach called fountain code-based multipath TCP (fmtcp) to address the low throughput issues of traditional multipath TCP (mptcp) in networks experiencing high loss and delay. It proposes a flexible transmission scheme using fountain codes that allows for efficient data encoding and reduces the negative impact of different quality paths by avoiding excessive retransmissions. The results demonstrate that fmtcp significantly improves goodput, reduces delays, and enhances overall TCP performance compared to standard mptcp.
