This document summarizes a paper presented at the NOISE-CON 2007 conference about communicating the noise effects of wind farms to stakeholders. The paper explores using audibility analyses to identify where and when wind farms may be audible, accounting for ambient wind noise masking. It also discusses evaluating the prominence of any tonal characteristics according to international standards. Finally, the paper describes using Virtual Soundscapes recordings to help people understand what a wind farm may sound like in their community.
