• Royal & Derngate Theatre: £32,000 pa LED lighting.
• National Theatre £30,000 by installing CO2 detectors in the car park
so extractor fans are only switched on when necessary
• 6 theatres in the London Theatre Consortium collectively saved
£40,000 from energy efficiencies
Waste
• 3 Festivals saved £15,000 between them by reducing waste to landfill
in 2010.
Water
• Theatre Royal Plymouth saved £10,000 - 2,300 tonnes of water -
through installation of urinal control and percussion taps.

Arts Council England is committed to taking practical steps to
embed environmental sustainability in the arts and cultural sectors.
Within the life time of this funding agreement, we intend to ask all
our national portfolio organisations to develop an environmental
action policy and annual action plan to improve environmental
performance and carbon emissions. Our target for this is 2013 and
we will provide support and materials to enable this to happen.
