- 2. What Is Poverty? Poverty is the state of being extremely poor, which usually leads to one lacking the ability of obtaining basic necessities. Other types of poverty such as absolute poverty is the state of one’s poor living condition and also deprivation of shelter, food and clean water.

Statistics On Poverty About half the world – over three billion people – live on less than $2.50 a day, while at least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. 22,000 children die daily due to poverty, with most of the deaths being unknown due to them being removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Nearly a billion people in the 21st century are unable to read a book or sign their names.
- 4. How Does A Organization Help Those Living In Poverty? Hugh Evans, 33, launched the Global Poverty Project in 2008 to help end absolute poverty by 2030 after spending a night in a Manila slum. Then 14, Evans was shocked at the living conditions at the slums and thus hopes to help people living in poverty through the help of the public and the government.
- 5. How Did The Project Contributed To Those Living In Poverty? As of 2011, under the Global Poverty Project, Evans co-founded the Global Citizen, which allows fans to perform anti-poverty actions to be eligible to fight for the war against absolute poverty. With the help of 2.3 million fans, the Global Poverty Project managed to secure funds from the governments worldwide to help change the lives of 210 million people. This project helped to provide the people living in poverty to be able to use the funds provided by the project to have access to clean water, food, education, medical needs and other needs that they require.
