First Day at My New School
I love my first day of school. Whenever I ponder over my school days, the
reflection takes me to a meek quiet boy. A reserve guy with quiet habits, feeling shy
of everything. I find him dressed in very short shorts and white shirt, a pair of bright
shining shoes with white socks. Well combed hair and slightly oiled face. Height of
tall and size of thin looking guy. Age of mature looking. His personality shows that he
is kind, helpful, independent and many more. My father was transferred to Jakarta,
Indonesia. The transfer came in the mid-session of the year of May the time where I
was studying at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Klang in Malaysia. I am
the only one who moved quite extensively from corner to corner with my father for
admission, but everywhere, the answer was in negative. In matter what happen I did
not lost my hope for looking and applying for schools. I even told my dad to make an
admission for me at an International school but then it was refuse my dad and my
mum. As a month past, I was always checking on my emails for the feedback that
any of the governmental school might be replying neither me nor sending me any
forms of letters but all was failed. Then planning another idea, where I did send the
application letter again to all the schools which had rejected me for the first time.
Without giving up, comes one school sending me a reply that they had given me a
place to study at the government school. It was after laborious efforts, that SMUK 1
Jakarta Public School accepted to accommodate me in the new class as they told
that I had excel good results therefore it would be a good example to the other
students there.. In the next stage, my father left me on the school gate next month
and asked me, to proceed to my class. He perhaps felt that I was grown up enough
to protect my own interest. I was moving towards the stairs with a very heavy and
hesitant mind. Nobody was known to me because I look very much different
compare to the people there and the students there except my class teacher who
examined my papers for admission. I did even send with my picture of passport
attaching with the letter in order for them to know that I am an Indian Malaysia girl.
As I passed by, my teacher was perhaps sitting in the classroom because the
morning assembly was already over. He was marking attendance as I stood on the
entrance gate of the class. I was told that there were forty students in the class and I
was forty-one. Anyway, very reluctantly I peeped into the room. The teacher saw me
and ask me to come in and take your seat with Murugeswaran on the first bench.
The only student on the desk accommodated me very willingly and provided me seat
with a helping and affectionate hand. Soon we were good friends. We were taught a
new topic in social study by the teacher. He asked some questions from the students
which were not answered well. I took the initiative and answered all the questions to
the best of my knowledge. The teacher was satisfied and enlisted my among the
best ten students of the class. It was recess time soon after and we all started
playing in the central ground.Murugeswaran keep getting closer to me on the very
first time as he is also a mix of an Indian. After seeing me in the school,
Murugeswaran which used to be call Muru started to communicate to me and he was
very much interested to know me and my family. Murugeswaran introduced me to
many other students of the class and also to the other students form the other class.
The bell rang and we rushed to the class as the different practice of me studying in
Malaysia. Similar phases of morning session repeated in the next period of
Mathematics and History. The only problem that I faced was the dialect being used
and I was given a lot of notes because I had to undergo the History of them not the
the Malaysian history. This was the big changes of education in my life as I hatred
that history subject very much when I was in Malaysia. The concerned teachers
appreciated my capability at studies. Soon the periods were over, we were asked to
pack up for return. I was also half shock as the students there will not be given any
homework’s as the students had done many tasks at school. My class teacher
guided me to proceed towards the bus. The conductor shook hand with me and
“welcomed me for good seat. It was a beautiful and well-provided but. It reached
home in an hour. My mother was waiting for me on the main crossing. She asked me
about the school and its teaching staff. I gave all the best appreciation for my
teachers and told my mother that I had formed good number of friends that I wanted
very much and that I enjoyed the day very nicely. She was happy that my silence
and hesitation has ultimately would up for good. She felt happy that I could fit in well
in the new set up and atmosphere.
