Background There is a movement towards increasing use of coalitions in public health Few studies exist documenting effectiveness of coalitions Fewer models exist to evaluate effectiveness of coalition work in public health No studies exist evaluating effectiveness of coalitions focused on STDs 3

Purpose Evaluate the effectiveness of the NCC, including its internal operations and impact of the coalition on members and other stakeholders Document key factors that have contributed to NCC’s success Document the process of coalition development so that lessons learned can be used for developing future coalitions Highlight strengths and accomplishments of NCC to inform for example, additional potential funders, internal and external to CDC 4
