Shelves built from crates make moving much easier than disassembling shelves and placing books in separate boxes. However, existing crates cannot support building sturdy shelves of more than three layers without caving in or leaning. Additionally, many crates cannot be easily carried when filled and do not adequately protect contents from dust.
