Computer Aided Drug Design
Computer aided drug design (CADD) is a field that uses
computational methods and tools to assist in the
discovery and optimization of new drugs. CADD can
help to identify potential drug candidates, predict their
properties and interactions, and evaluate their efficacy
and safety.
CADD can be divided into two main categories: structure-
based and ligand-based.
Structure-based CADD uses the 3D structure of the
target protein or enzyme to design drugs that can
bind to it and modulate its function.
Ligand-based CADD uses the information of known
ligands or drugs that interact with the target to
design new ones with similar or improved features.
