Research & Development DATES 2003, 30 artists from 11 European countries joined in travels to unfamiliar harbour cities around the Baltic and Adriatic Seas … In 2006/2007, 11 DATES realized with artists from/to different Black and North Sea harbour cities … Funding from  ECF ,  EU/Culture 2000 ,  The Swedish Institute ,  Nordic Council 25++ Program  (initiated by  CulturesFrance ) and  culturebase.net made these research travels possible …

PRODUCTION In 2003-2005: 10 co-productions - dance, theatre and visual artworks - were created … For 2007-2008: 15 projects are produced … Multi-annual Funding from  EU/Culture provides production incentives for some SEAS projects supplemented by local/regional/national support …

The chosen event sites are primarily post-industrial  or  open air  public spaces, located in/near harbour/shipyard areas. These areas are - or will soon be - objects of investment by  EU structural funds  and local/national governments …  what is the “cultural factor” ?? Distribution

Black SEAS 2008/2009 Odessa, Ukraine (23 may-1 june) Varna & Balchik, Bulgaria (3-11 june) Mangalia, Romania (9-15 june) Istanbul, Turkey (21-29 march 2009) North SEAS 2009 Skegness/Lincolnshire, UK Rotterdam, Netherlands Göteborg, Sweden Helsingør, Danmark/Helsingborg, Sweden Tromsø, Norway …  and  SEAS 2010 back to the Black Sea region and focused action in chosen North Sea cities

North SEAS Example: Skegness/Lincolnshire UK 23 september  –  3 october 2009 funded by  Arts Council England, East Midlands , which is also a Coorganiser in SEAS/EU multi-annual grant coordinated by  East Lindsey District Council Arts Services East Midlands based artists ( Metro-Boulot-Dodot ) as participants, proposed by ACE/EM Skegness  as place for a DATE (2007) Skegness International  and other community based arts organisations as co-Hosts of SEAS/Skegness 2009
