This review article discusses the applications and efficacy of botulinum toxin type A in urology, particularly emphasizing its role in treating detrusor overactivity and other bladder conditions. Evidence supports its use for neurogenic and idiopathic detrusor overactivity, overactive bladder, and bladder pain syndrome, with varying effectiveness in other disorders like detrusor sphincter dyssynergia. The review highlights the need for further investigation, especially into the promising liposomal formulation of botulinum toxin.
