A study presented at RSNA 2017 identified common structural abnormalities in the brains of patients with major depression disorder (MDD) and social anxiety disorder (SAD) using MRI imaging. Researchers found significant differences in cortical thickness in various brain regions between MDD, SAD patients, and healthy controls, with both disorders exhibiting unique patterns. The findings suggest these conditions share gray matter abnormalities and emphasize the need for further studies to enhance diagnostic and prognostic methods using structural MRI.
