Lesson 1
Virtual Assistant.
The term Virtual Assistant,
is abbreviated as VA, and belongs to two industries.
IT
Information Technology
&
ITES
Information Technology Enabled Services
Information Technology,
as we all know is a industry of computers. If we go deeper with the term Information Technology,
we will understand that the processing of information with the help of technology to perform certain computational tasks,
is known as Information Technology.
IT
Information Technology Enabled Services is a short form for ITES.
ITES is a service industry. Services that are provided with the help of Information Technology,
to improve the efficiency of an organization.
Services such as Customer Service, Call Centers, ERP, Data Entry, Virtual Assistants, etc. falls under the ITES industry.
ITES
In the IT industry,
Virtual Assistants are known as Artificial Intelligence, AI, such as Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Echo.
AI Virtual Assistants can communicate with you over voice and or by typing. Also, they can complete certain tasks,
such as controlling home automation devices, media playback, managing emails, calendars, to-do lists,
with the help of verbal commands.
AI Virtual Assistant is not a real human, they are software programmed robots.
They can only communicate with you, up to the extent, they are programmed.
In the ITES industry,
a Virtual Assistant, VA, is a real human, who works as an assistant to anyone who needs assistance,
with tasks related to lifestyle, professional and or business needs.
VAs work remotely, from their home or while traveling. Since they work remotely via internet, so they work with clients,
all around the world.
A VA just needs, a laptop, internet connection, a smartphone, and few web applications, to provide,
Virtual Assistant Services.
The Virtual Assistant training you are receiving,
belongs to the ITES industry.
How Virtual Assistant came into existence?
I do not know exactly, but this is how, I think Virtual Assistants, the real human one 🙂, came into existence.
In the beginning of the Virtual Assistant era, obviously, there were no Virtual Assistants, quite obvious, right? 🙂
There were Assistants, as we know of Assistant, we all know of Assistant, right? Like we know, a Businessman
has Assistant, who helps the Businessman with various tasks the Businessman needs help with. Like, if the
Businessman need to travel to someplace for work, then the Assistant helps the Businessman in searching and
booking flights and hotels, helping in creating presentation documents, helping in other arrangements of the travel,
such as cab booking, restaurant search, meeting arrangements, etc. This is just one example, I am giving you.
Other examples of tasks, can be, finding and purchasing products online, appointment bookings with Doctors,
Dentists, SPA, etc. So a Assistant of a Businessman, helps the Businessman with these kinds of tasks. Not only a
Businessman has Assistant, a office also has Assistants, known as Office Assistant, who helps the Office with
various tasks the office needs help in running, such as, Communicating with Vendors, Planning Office Parties,
Managing Events, Purchasing Office Supplies, Documentation Tasks, Attending Phone Calls, Responding to
Emails, and many others tasks, an Office Assistant is also known as Administrative Assistant.
So in the beginning of Virtual Assistant era, there were only Assistants, no Virtual Assistants, then these
Assistants after retiring from their work or after working for long time as an Assistant, when they leave their job,
they started to work from home, remotely, with the help of internet, phone and fax, and started providing
assistance to people who needed help with tasks they were able to help, so then these Assistants became Virtual
Assistant because they were providing assistance to people who needed assistance over the internet, phone and
fax, so they were known as Virtual Assistants 🙂
So this is how, I think, Virtual Assistants came into existence. A general definition of Virtual Assistant is, someone
who works over the internet and phone from their home or while travelling. A Virtual Assistant just needs a laptop,
internet connection and a smartphone to work as a Virtual Assistant.
So, who is a Virtual Assistant?
A Virtual Assistant is someone who works remotely, over the internet, phone and fax, and helps people with the tasks,
a Assistant helps in the office, to the,
Founder of the Company,
Owner of the Company,
Executive Officers of the Company, or to,
Anyone who needs assistance of an Assistant, but virtually.
Lesson 2
Work a Virtual Assistant does.
There are two types of assistance,
a Virtual Assistant can provide to their clients.

we understand helping clients with their day to day lifestyle related tasks,
such as…
1. Doctor, Dentist and SPA Appointment Booking.
2. Restaurant Search and Reservation.
3. Vacation Planning.
4. Flight Search and Booking.
5. Hotel Search and Booking.
6. Online Product Search.
7. Online Purchases.
8. Calling Local Businesses and Customer Services.
By Business Assistance,
we understand helping clients with their day to day business tasks,
such as…
1. Internet Research.
2. Data Entry.
3. Document Drafting and Creation, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, etc.
4. Calendar Management.
5. Email Management.
6. Attending Phone Calls.
7. Organizing Office Events, Parties, etc.
8. Meeting Assistance.
So, these are the kind of tasks a Virtual Assistant can help people who needs assistance of a Virtual Assistant.
These are few examples to let you know, there are obviously lot more tasks a Virtual Assistant can help. If you
can think of some, let me know.
Lesson 3
Apps you will need.
There are a lot of apps, a Virtual Assistant needs to get their work done, but to get started,
working as a Virtual Assistant, you will need,
1. Email App, such as Gmail to receive tasks and communicate with your clients or customers.
2. MS Office or Google Docs to get done various documentation tasks.

4. Online Storage Drive (Such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) to stores files online
and share with your clients or customers.
5. LastPass to store login credentials online to easy use of logins.
So if you have these apps ready, you are good to get started to work as a Virtual Assistant.

Getting Paid.
In order to get paid, you will need two things,
1. A Bank Account.
2. A Online Merchant Account, such as PayPal.
You will have to create a PayPal account and connect your Bank Account with the PayPal account.
PayPal account is where you will receive payment from your clients or customers, and Bank
Account is where you will transfer the money from your PayPal account to withdraw cash.
Other than these, regarding getting paid,
1. You will need to know how to calculate the amount you will charge for the tasks
you have done or will do.
2. There are two ways you can charge, by task or project, or, you can charge hourly.
