The Calypso Borealis
May Angelou is an author and a poet who makes us picture out and see the importance of
having joyful memories in our lives. She says that our lives cannot be determined through the
breaths we take but it can be done through determining the actions and occasions that could snatch
away our lives. Some people tend to take their whole time remembering the good moments they
had. Through that they get to identify the moment and the joy it brought to them. William
Woodsworth besides John Muir in cooperation use connotation, imagery and tone to show that
nature is a beautiful thing that has brought them both happiness and memorable experiences.
William Woodsworth brings out the positive imagery and tone which he uses to show how
nature is beautiful and how it has brought memorable experiences. He shows a good example by
quoting two phrases. One of the phrases is “continuous as the stars that shine” and another is “Ten
thousand I saw at a glance tossing their heads in sprightly dance’. The imagery that is used in the
phrases is a clear indication that shows sight. The sight allows us to see a line of stars that never
end and they sway in a breeze. The tone that is being used Wordsworth William, (1934) shows
how he is in an urge to see how many stars that can be able to seen. The words that he uses shows
that the daffodils are having some fun by swaying in the breeze.

On the other hand Muir shows positive connation through the tone and imagery that he
uses. The imagery that is used in the phrases is a clear indication that shows sight. The sight allows
us to see a line of stars that never end and they sway in a breeze. The tone that is being used
Wordsworth William, (1934) shows how he is in an urge to see how many stars that can be able
to seen. The words that he uses shows that the daffodils are having some fun by swaying in the
breeze. Through that he brings out the clear picture on how he tries to remember about his
memories for nature. He quotes that, “rejoicing in their bound wealth and strength and beauty’. In
this phrase he shows how he felt walking in the forest during his adventure, (Muir John, 1943)...
Through the word rejoice he shows the excited tone through his journey.
Lastly the use of connation, tone and imagery is well brought out in the text through the
phrases that have been used. A good example is “continuous as the stars that shine”. This phrases
have clearly shown the author’s relationship with nature and how he appreciates nature.
