The capybara is a large, semi-aquatic rodent found in South America. It can grow up to 4 feet long and weigh between 100-150 pounds. Capybaras live in groups near bodies of water and eat aquatic plants, grass, fruits, and other vegetation. They are good swimmers and can stay underwater for up to 5 minutes to escape predators such as jaguars. Capybaras are not endangered and can typically be found in zoos living in habitats with watering holes and other South American animals.
