- 1. CAREER INTERVIEW QUESTIONS<br />What do you do in your job? I am the medical director of dialysis
- 2. What is a typical day like for the position? I see all patients who come for dialysis treatments on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesday, I review all patient records and lab tests. On Thursday, I am engaged in several meetings, mostly related to dialysis issues.
- 3. What hours do you work? Generally 8 AM – 5 PM
- 4. What school subjects are important to this job? Biology, Chemistry, and Science
- 5. How and when did you decide to enter this job? In college, I took several related courses
- 6. What are the most rewarding aspects of the position? What are the most challenging components of the position? Rewarding – seeing the patients happy and doing well
- 7. Challenging – finding the time to talk with the patients
- 8. Did you have a career plan that you followed? Somewhat I have followed a certain career path. Originally, I have intended to do lab research. I still do that, but much less so.
- 9. What major changes anything about your job? I am compelled to spend much more time in meeting and organizing them with direct patient case
- 10. Would you change anything about your job? We all need to better communicate. I would require all to step using email so frequently and talk with each other.
- 11. Did your school prepare you adequately for your work? Yes – school did. Unfortunately, there are many things school cannot teach (how to relate to others, etc.)
- 12. How do you coordinate your family/home/job responsibilities? It is very difficult to balance work/family. Ultimately, my family comes first although my patients do matter very much to me.
- 13. What personal characteristics are important in your job? (Working with people, data, things, good speaking and writing skills, working under pressure, working inside or outside.) It is important to be patient, caring, and very industrious
