This study investigates the gender pay gap in informal and formal employment in Poland, revealing that pay inequality is more pronounced for unregistered workers at lower income levels, while formal employment shows significant disparities at the higher end, indicative of a 'glass ceiling'. The paper analyzes various factors influencing wage differences, including the absence of minimum wage regulations in the informal sector and different earnings characteristics between genders. It highlights the need for further research on how informal employment affects gender wage disparities, particularly in transition economies.
