- 1. UNIT 3: THE CONQUEST LIFE STEVE JOBS STORY Based on Steve Jobs (CEO Apple and Pixar Animation) Speech in Stanford College.
- 2. Three Stories He tried to explain the vision of life that he had and how these kind of thoughts kept him searching goals, so He start this explanation with three simple stories: Connecting the dots Love and lost Death
- 3. Connecting the dots First of all, Steve Jobs never had a College Graduation, because he can´t finish a career., but this aspect wasn't a negative thing, and He explain this is this way He started a career in a College (he never mention which one), and for the first six months He quit and begun to get into those He thought that could be interesting.
- 4. Be addopted But this decision had different causes, like the fact of he was adopted. His biologic mother wanted to give him in adoption, so she was searching a couple with “College Studies”, but she couldn't found them. She just could get a couple with a “medium class” knowledge, without College Degrees. So Steve Jobs was adopted by a simple a no College prepare parents.
- 5. Did´nt find the real meaning The time passed, and 17 years later He get into a College, almost as expensive as Stanford, but he was confused. Because he never could explain himself, how his parent that didn't have enough money, had to pay his studies. He saw this effort right, so he had a big confusion inside him. So 6 six months later, he could find value of it.
- 6. Started to build his own future For these reasons he quite of College, and begun to get into classes that had something interesting in it. Was difficult, because he didn't have money, he had to slept in the floor of friends rooms, and collect Coke bottles to earn some money.
- 7. Reach the future In one of these courses that He chose, was the calligraphy class. He was in love of how the words can be together, and how to make a great typography. 10 years later, he was in a garage beginning to build the first Mac, and this course was the base of the operational system. It was the first computer with beautiful typography He never dropped out, but until he was building the first Mac computer, he found sense of almost everything, and could connected all the dots, and all the bad moments give him the tools to reach “future”.
- 8. Love and lost He was love, in love of his company but for most beautiful and strong that could be a feeling, this “thing” can run away. He started Apple in his parents garage when he was twenty years old. He worked hard and in ten years, Apple had grown from just the two persons in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4,000 employees.
- 9. Get Fired Believed or not, he was “fired” from his own company, because he hired a person how manage the business, but him gave him the back, and finally he was kick out from his own company. He was depressed, and devastated because his dream was stole by a person who won the directors of Apple, and nobody back up him.
- 10. Start over He had to start over again, begun like a teenager with dreams, and these feeling put him to tried to reach other goal. During the next five years he started a company named NeXT, and another company called Pixar. This second company had so much successful that created the world's of the first computer animated feature film, "Toy Story," and is now the most successful animation studio in the world
- 11. Reborn Again He reached success again, and for the turn of life, Apple Company bougth NeXT, and he returned to the company that he built. He never lost the faith, he continued working, even when everybody gave him the back, and had to started over again.
- 12. Death After all the success and all the fame, a few year later he was diagnosed with cancer, a tumor in pancreas. The doctors told him this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that he should expect to live no longer than three to six months. It means that he need to be prepare to die. He was terrified, because he could not see his kids grow, and he had to left his wife.
- 13. A cure He didn't have expectative to be cure, but one day, miraculously, the tumor was disappeared. In a gastro-intestinal test the tumor was gone. He was graceful with life, and show him that nobody it´s out border of death But something its true, he never lost the faith.
- 14. Conclusion In all the three stories, was a common factor, that he never lost the faith, he always believed in him-self and never show more than the biggest effort. All the things had to happen to reach a bigger future, but sometimes we can see more than edge of ours noses. Have patient, because God have a Plan for you.
