Exchange 2013 Public Folders Microsoft would prefer companies move to SharePoint and as such have been trying to minimize Public Folders in the past two versions of Exchange Server (2007 & 2010). Public Folders have improved for Exchange 2013 ◦ Now a mailbox within a MB database (was a separate database in previous versions of Exchange) ◦ Regular mailbox cmdlets work on Public Folder mailboxes – making migrations easier ◦ Public Folders now have only one writeable copy of the the public folder mailbox (previous versions of Exchange used a multi- master public folder database replication strategy) 28
