In 2000, 189 countries adopted the Millennium Declaration at the UN summit which established 8 Millennium Development Goals to reduce extreme poverty by 2015. The workshop examined the 8 goals and how they relate, studied one goal in particular about introducing students to the issues, and discussed the benefits and barriers to girls' education around the world using data analysis. The goals focused on include ensuring all children complete primary school and eliminating gender disparity in education levels.
