Consumer Products Safety Commission The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC ) is an independent agency of the United States government created in 1972 through the Consumer Product Safety Act to protect "against unreasonable risks of injuries associated with consumer products."
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( FDA or USFDA ) is an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services and is responsible for regulating and supervising the safety of foods, dietary supplements, drugs, vaccines, biological medical products, blood products, medical devices, radiation-emitting devices, veterinary products, and cosmetics
The Department of Transportation ( DOT ) is the most common name for a government agency in North America devoted to transportation. The largest is the United States Department of Transportation , which oversees interstate travel. All U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and many local agencies also have similar organizations.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA or sometimes USEPA ) is an agency of the federal government of the United States charged to regulate chemicals and protect human health by safeguarding the natural environment: air, water, and land. The EPA was proposed by President Richard Nixon and began operation on December 2, 1970, when its establishment was passed by Congress, and signed into law by President Nixon, and has since been chiefly responsible for the environmental policy of the United States.
In most common law jurisdictions, the attorney general , or attorney-general , is the main legal advisor to the government, and in some jurisdictions he or she may in addition have executive responsibility for law enforcement or responsibility for public prosecutions. Roy Cooper
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) , founded in 1912, is not a government agency, but a network of local BBB organizations based in the United States and Canada, which work together through the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB). The BBB goal is to foster a fair and effective marketplace, so that buyers and sellers can trust each other ("Start With Trust"). Many BBB services can be accessed online through their website.
