Wilbur is born as a runt piglet and is saved from being killed by Fern, who names him. As Wilbur grows too big for the farm, he is given to Fern's uncle's farm. There, Wilbur befriends Charlotte, a spider, but learns he may be eaten for Christmas. Charlotte hatches a plan to save Wilbur using her webs. At the state fair, Wilbur wins second place. Charlotte then dies, leaving her egg sac for Wilbur to care for. Wilbur successfully cares for Charlotte's offspring, continuing her family line for generations to come.

- 3. Chapter 2 In this chapter Wilbur gets too big for the farm so Fern faces a hard decision. She needs to give Wilbur away to her uncle but she can see him anytime. So she does and he’s off to her uncles farm.
- 4. Chapter 3 Wilbur finds out he has a friend named Charlotte and then he finds out about what will happen to him at Christmas.
- 5. Chapter 4 In this chapter Wilbur and Charlotte think of a way to save Wilbur from being eaten at Christmas dinner. Finally they think of a way to save him
- 6. Chapter 6 Charlotte does it. He saves Wilbur. So they’re off to the state fair. Wilbur gets entered in a contest and comes in second to a winter pig. Also in this chapter Charlotte dies and leaves her egg sac to Wilbur.
- 7. Chapter 7 Wilbur saves Charlottes egg sac and when they hatch they all leave except for 3 who stayed with Wilbur. When they lay their eggs Wilbur will keep Charlotte’s kids and her grandchild and on and on until he dies on a cold winters night.
