My unit plan is on the three most common types of clouds. Students explore what clouds
are through doing a lesson in Webquest, creating a wiki, and commenting on the class Facebook
page. Students will learn what a cloud is, how it is formed, why it stays up in the sky, and why
clouds are white or grey. Students will express their knowledge through their wiki and Facebook
posts. Students will also learn in detail about each cloud. They will learn about what each cloud
looks like and the color of each. They will learn this through a YouTube video and express their
knowledge through a blog. Along with learning about the three types of clouds, students will
learn how to determine the weather by simply knowing what cloud they are looking at. Students
will learn this through Twitter and display their knowledge by creating a robot. Students learn to
identify the location of each cloud. They will learn where the low clouds are, middle clouds are,
and high clouds are. Students will create a cloud location on a poster and create a cloud
information PowerPoint. By the end of the lesson, students will create a cloud identifier and go
outside to observe clouds. Students will discuss their findings using Zello. Through this five
day lesson plan, students will gain a better understanding of cirrus, alto, and stratus clouds. This
lesson will prepare them for the next type of clouds they will be studying.
