HOW TO MAKE A CIRCLE TIME ?
MAKE GROUND RULES
• Emotional safety – free to speak

• Mockery of any one else

• Teacher’s control techniques – that involve
  showing pupils up
GOOD COMMUNICATION
•   I n climate of emotional “safety”
•   To signal if you wish to speak
•   Not to let down/ put down any one
•   If any one does not wish to speak say “pass”
•   At the end who did not speak give 2nd chance
•   Not to name any one in negative way instead

HOW TO KEEP DISCIPLINE IN CT?

• Primary technique- Motivation by praise

• Keeping ground rules

• Teacher is a facilitator

• Safe climate

• System of sanctions – A warning card
KEEP IT GOING
. Include warm up games, talking, trigger questions
  (2), role-play.

. Accept any contributions, Thank for it
• Use a speaking object for a round

• Do not interrupt

• Evaluate regularly
THE STRUCTURE OF CIRCLE MEETING
• 1. INTRODUCTORY PHASE
Generate a sense of a group- laughter,fun,
Encourage pupils to value and respect each
  individual
Encourage emotionally safe self disclosure
Create the need for + eye contact
Cause pupils to sit next to and work
• Round
• A speaking object
• Right to speak and be heard

• Stop the circle- You say I don’t like when…….
• Climate fo interest
• A and B pairs
• 2. MIDDLE PHASE – OPEN FORUM
 Lies the heart of the circle time
3 Specific strategies for emotional safety
  1.A very positive attitude to the group
  2.No group member uses a name negatively
   3.Scripts, sensitive discussions, drama
 approaches can be used
• 3. CLOSEING PHASE
• Good sense of humor
• Thank you to the one who is least popular
•   THANK YOU
• We meet again after 20 min break
