PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
• When the functions of Management are applied to the production
function of the organization, it is known as production
management.
• Production management involves planning, organizing, directing,
and controlling the production process to ensure the efficient
creation of goods and services.
• It focuses on the transformation of inputs and raw materials into
finished goods.
• In this process the decision regarding the quality, quantity, price,
packaging, design, etc. are taken by the production manager.

KEY COMPONENTS
1. Planning: Determining what to produce, how much to produce,
and the resources required.
2. Organizing: Allocating resources, assigning tasks, and setting
up the production layout.
3. Directing: Supervising the workforce, managing operations,
and ensuring adherence to production schedules.
4. Controlling: Monitoring production activities, ensuring quality
standards, and making necessary adjustments.

• It involves administration of production, manufacturing
