Podcasting involves downloading digital audio or video files that are episodic and hosted on a theme to listen to or watch at one's convenience. The podcasting workflow includes producing the audio/video file, editing metadata, uploading it to a server, distributing metadata to client software like iTunes, downloading the file manually or automatically, and transferring it to a portable audio device. Podcasting allows users to download files for later listening unlike streaming which requires a constant internet connection. Podcasting has grown beyond just large companies and professionals, allowing everyone from individuals to organizations to have a voice.
