The importance of having a particular genre in a film are so that
the company know how to market and advertise the film. For
example if the film was horror then they would advertise it with
dark colors and ghostly font. As well as producing the film
around Halloween to increase the popularity and fright of it.
Genre also is important because it allows the audience to know
what there watching and have an idea of the conventions of the

Lastly having a particular genre will allow the producer’s to know
that they have a certain target audience that there aiming the

if the film was not easily placed into a genre then the company
would find it difficult to market and attract an audience
therefore they may not make a huge amount of profit from the
film.
