- 2. What is a clearance A clearance is getting certified permission to use aspects from a project that are made from other individuals that contributed to the project. There are many types of clearances involved when trying to air a project like a movie. Some of these are:- Script clearances Content clearances Music clearances Location clearances Actor's/contributor's clearances
- 3. Script Clearances If an original script is made with none of the characters resembling real life people then a person may chose to pay the creator of that script to use in a upcoming production. The difference must be clear between the characters of the script and the real life people otherwise there is a chance of the company getting sued for not getting clearance for that individual.
- 4. Content Clearances Content clearances are for things that will appear in the production like tapes, logos and brand names. All these things will need to be clear if you wish to air this production. An example of this would be a can of coca cola being filmed will would need clearance from the company for it to be used in the production.
- 5. Music Clearances These would include things like the music played during the production or any additional sound effects that have ownership contracts to another party. The company or person who composed the music would need clearances for example a song used of a celebrity would require the company to get clearances from that person to allow them to use the song they composed.
- 6. Actor's/contributor's clearances Any actor/actress that appears in the production must have a signed legitimate contract that has their consent for the use of footage they were featured in to be put into the actual production. This usually requires the company to pay a fee to the person when they hire them and is put into the agreement.
