Today’s Agenda
• This End-to-End (ETE) process review of the Oracle SCM Cloud
applications includes a live demo. Starting with product
management and planning then procurement, next inventory
and Manufacturing, ending with sale order management.
• Key features will be emphasized plus a couple with ease-of-
use and reporting capabilities.
5
Products We Will Cover Today
6
Is It better?
7
• Easier to use
• Very similar to EBS
• Reporting
• Security
• Excel based
updates and loads
• Web / modern
application
This is not a pros and cons of Cloud
applications.
What Do You See?
8
• Nice looking Application
with an easy to use UI.
• Prebuilt Dashboards
• On a tablet or cell
phone
• Custom report or
dashboard
• This is what you will
see during the next
hour
You Will Need SaaS
• However, because most organizations heavily customize their
implementations of these apps to support their unique ways of
working, switching to a cloud-based, one-size-fits-all software-
as-a- Service (SaaS) solution isn’t an option (though with the
Oracle cloud, it could be in the future).
• The good news is that there’s now a way to achieve the
benefits of cloud, while keeping all the customizations you’ve
made to your critical Oracle applications. The solution is to use
Oracle’s cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS), which enables
you to move your existing applications to the cloud in their
current state.
9
The benefits of moving your Oracle applications to the cloud
Moving your business-critical Oracle applications to the cloud will enable you to unleash the usual and
well-understood benefits of this type of infrastructure, including:
• Business agility: Quickly try out new capabilities, thanks to the speed at which you can add
capacity to your application environments
• Cost-effectiveness: Only pay for (and license) what you use; much on-premise hardware is under-
used, particularly in test and development environments, where utilization is sometimes less than
10%1. Cloud helps minimize this inefficiency
• Cost agility: Low up-front costs and the ability to start small and grow (or shrink), mean you don’t
risk getting tied into long-term contracts or expensive infrastructure if they (or the project they’re
underpinning) don’t meet your needs. You can now afford to try things out, measure success and
quickly adapt accordingly
• Data center reductions: Migrating your Oracle applications to the cloud in the right way will enable
you to reduce your data center footprint and cost
• Reduce the cost of infrastructure management: This could be cheaper in the cloud than on- premise
• Improve physical security: Cloud data centers are incredibly secure, typically more so than an on-
premise data room

Oracle Cloud Overview
Oracle Cloud is an enterprise cloud for business that offers self-
service business applications delivered on an integrated
development and deployment platform, with tools to extend and
create new services rapidly. In addition, Oracle Cloud includes
built-in identity management functionality..

• Have to run “Retrieve

• Process synchronizes users,
roles, and role grants with
definitions in LDAP.
• No Parameters
20
* Lightweight directory access protocol
Summary
• Security console only provides job role access (what can I do).
• Does not control the Data Access (what data access can I
have access to).
• Data Access Security is available from Setup and Maintenance.

Editor's Notes

  • #6: Show Tell Show Tell
  • #15: Bbullman Welcome1
  • #21: Process ensures Oracle Identify Management is in sync with Applications through Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). Recommended to run on a daily basis (I always run on whenever I create / update user access)
  • #37: This first place that a planner is to review the horizonal MRP/DRP plan to quick scan all the items in the plan. You would normally do this by filtering you items that you are responsible for planning. For example I would create items with a planner code of BBA, BBB, and BBC. Look at the BBA first when I am running short on time ensuring that my most import item are planned properly. Meaning the supply and demand is inline.
  • #39: I would create a slightly different view of this data, showing projected availability if I don't take any action. Looking for negatives.
  • #40: Each of the bubbles is a category of items. In this case it’s a line of tables and laptops. If you click on the bubble you can drill into planning data about all the items in the category. Reviewing the exceptions is an efficient way to spot and address problems. Supply and demand will allow you to see planned orders and related pegging. In a single window you can quickly see in detail why the planning engine is suggesting a make or buy and the demand tree that is driving the requirement. This goes to the top of the bill-of-material up to the independent demand that might be a forecast or sales order.
  • #43: You typically list your planned order by order date and suggested supplier so your purchase order are qrouping all items on a single purchase order for each supplier.
  • #62: Simco, Toshiba, Thule
