This document discusses two types of middle-level clouds known as alto clouds: altostratus and altocumulus. Altostratus clouds are gray and blue clouds that often cover the sky and are associated with areas of storms and continuous precipitation, composed of ice and water droplets. Altocumulus clouds appear as gray, puffy masses that form in parallel waves or bands, usually occurring on warm, humid summer mornings and often indicating upcoming thunderstorms. Pictures and websites with additional information about alto clouds are also provided.
