WHO ARE WE?
We are Cloud 9Productions, a very successful films production team.
Our main focus is creating and delivering cutting-edge films in a way
that is not commonly found as all our employees has had the
opportunity to add an essence of their own intuition to our projects
which has helped to produce films that are unique and entertaining.
Our focus is on creating the best horror films that give audiences a
truly horrifying but highly entertaining experience.
Our company has produced horror films, such as The Lullaby, Brocken
Wards (which won a BAFTA award) and Libellus.
We are in partnership with advertisements by Sony, Bose and
Monster Drink which have all been very successful over the nation .
OUR TEAM

Directors: Jennifer Torres, Myah Bellevue.
We both have a degree in Cinematography and have worked together and
achieved a BAFTA Award for their success with the film Broken Wards.
We have a critical mind send that helps us with analysis in finding positive and
negative elements within our own work. We also work very well in troubleshooting
these grey areas so that our work, in the end, will be deemed as successful.
Cameramen/women: Valentino Pajarillo, Myah Bellevue
We are both professionally trained and qualified for this role as we both have a
degree in Digital Film Production and Media. We have had experience in
freelancing for independent film companies but we have been involved in British
broadcasting for 10 years. Our efforts were made in Doctor Who for example. We
also had the privilege of filming at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Editor: Valentino Pajarillo
I have had professional experience in this field as he has been the Executive Editor
for numerous fast paced, music videos; and has been on the Editing Crew for
company Procter and Gamble. I also have a degree in Art and Graphics.
OUR GENRE
As we previously mentioned, horror is our main genre of focus. This is probably
because the majority of the members on our team find that this is their
favourite genre of film. This is helpful to us as we believe our enjoyment for
horror films help us to create a variation of them that are truly frightening and
enticing.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Our Target Audience are 15-25 year olds (and possibly older). This is because
teenagers may relate better to our film due to the use of teenage characters. Also,
our film will contain colloquial language, that teens may have an easier time
understanding as it is stemmed from common slang. Additionally, frightening
content seems to thrill teenagers and our film certainly includes this element.
Our film will be classified as a 15 due to the frightening content, as the BBFC has
mentioned that our strong contents of horror has deemed this age rating to be
suitable.
RESEARCH
For our research stage we have constructed multiple questionnaires in the
purpose of finding out the demands of our target audience.
For example, we proposed a number of 10 questions for our 'guinea pigs' to
answer that revolved around the research of our genre. i.e. “What scares you
most during a Horror film?”, “What makes you want to watch a horror film after
watching the trailer?”
We also constructed a questionnaire in regards to the tagline for our upcoming
trailer, to help us in the post production stage which will help it to be successful
as it has come from the demands of the public.
OUR FILM
Our film will be about a group of three teenagers that discover an odd looking
book which they later find out to be bedevilled by a demonic power. It contains
songs that have the intention of possessing their victims The songs begin to
haunt the individuals psychologically until their minds and will become weak to
this evil force. One member of the group of teenagers becomes a victim of
possession, her character gradually becomes dangerous and unstable and in the
end turns on the other teenagers.
The sub-genre to our film is possession as it will play a big part in the narrative
and is in some form a catalyst for the change of character for one of the
teenagers.
The conventions for this sub-genre in our film are the humming and singing of
nursery rhymes in a way that would be deemed 'creepy' and 'uncomfortable'. We
will also have our possessed character speaking in different tongues.
OUR SUB-GENRE
The sub-genre to our film is possession as it will play a big part in the
narrative and is in some form a catalyst for the change of character for one of
the teenagers.
The conventions for this sub-genre in our film are the humming and singing of
nursery rhymes in a way that would be deemed 'creepy' and 'uncomfortable'.
We will also have our possessed character speaking in different tongues
which is a convention that holds obvious connotations of possession.
As the sub-genre of our film is possession, there are many stereotypical themes that this
sub-genre carries. For example the protagonist who is being possessed is usually female,
this could be because females are stereotypically weaker in both the emotional and physical
state in which this can quicken the process of possession, this has been shown in films such
as ‘The Last Exorcism’ and ‘The Exorcist’. Because of this we have chosen to use the female
of our film the victim to possession, this is so it can appeal to audiences who have been
originally attracted to successful films that have the sub-genre of possession.
Male’s in possession films are usually very dominant and is much stronger emotionally and
physically. They usually play the hero in which they are able to stop or ‘heal’ the possession
process. In our film there are two males in which one of the males challenges the role of
male dominance as he is much weaker and slowly falls into the arms of possession.

CHARACTER REPRESENTATION
VISUAL CONCEPTS
We took inspiration from these 3
fonts to visualise how our ideal font
would look like, typography can add
character and add to the effect of
‘horror’ so by choosing the correct
one we can appeal to the target
audience properly.

The film poster all share several common conventions, one
being the close up shot. By doing this, the audience would
immediately understand the main focus of the film. Another
convention are the eyes of these characters, in which they’re
usually very dark and sinister which would add to the horrific
effect. We could apply these conventions to our own poster’s
and within the film to continue to hit the high standards of a
good horror film, this would also attract audiences who have
a love for horror films.
TITLE IDEAS FOR OUR FILM
We had come up with other possible titles for our film, some
that tied in well with the theme and sub-genre, however, some
were ruled out due to the ambiguity of the language. For
example, we came up with the title “Broken Wards” which
could be interpreted for broken hospital wards. However, in
the ‘supernatural world’ the term “wards” are considered to be
shields that are used to keep unwanted guests out.
• We looked at various
horror films and
focused on the sound
and soundtracks. An
example of this would
be ‘Paranormal Activity’
where they used ‘subsonic’ sound waves to
create a tense
atmosphere.

• We have taken
inspiration from nursery
rhymes which plays a
big role in our up
coming film, as the
‘book’ will contain
demonic melodies.

SOUND CONCEPTS
FINAL TITLE IDEA

INVICTUS

In the end we decided to choose "Invictus", the Latin word for "invincible,
unbeatable, unconquered". We believe that it would relate well to the
synopsis of the trailer as it revolves around possession and demonic
components. The demon will be unbeatable and so the protagonists in the
end, will be condemned to death.
