Codes and conventions of filming and editing interviews
- 2. Mise-en-scene reinforces the content of the interview or is relevant to the interviewee. Filmed in medium close up’s. Cutaways to break up the interviews and illustrate what they’re talking about and to avoid jump cuts where questions are asked.
- 3. Archive material. Questions asked are edited out. Graphics saying who is being interviewed. Framed either to the left or the right of the screen.
- 4. Eye lined roughly 1/3rd down the screen. Interviewee always looks at the interviewer NOT the camera. Never film an interview with a light source behind them.
