- 2. Mis-en-scene For our interview we considered the mis-en-scene in order to provide informational on their professional role. As a academic coach she gave us her input and professional experience on students and the problems which have arisen when concerning the topic of underage drinking. The academic coach was at a desk in order to represent her professional side, also to present her expertise to be professional, as well as being laid out in a formal position.
- 3. Lighting We made the use of natural light outside, we ensured that there is enough light to film, but not too much light that it affects the quality of filming. We did this by making her face towards the window side and speak, although we recorded from a different angle. Lighting allows the viewers to see the interview properly and also adds a touch of quality to the documentary because dull colors do not attract the viewers and can put them off from watching the clip as it can be seen to be “boring”.
- 4. Camera Shots We filmed the documentary from a medium close up shot, this in order to show the expressions of the interviewer whilst they are discussing the delicate subject of underage drinking. The interviewer is not facing the camera in order to record the most natural interview possible, so it is portrayed as a natural opinion and it hasn’t been formed for the purposes of the documentary but it was recorded naturally.
- 5. Editing We asked the questions and asked the interviewees to leave a slight pause in case we need to change this during the editing process. We used the interview to do straight cuts straight after, which can also be known as a typical documentary convention.
- 6. Graphics The use of graphics is done in order to introduce our documentary and the topic of our documentary. It is has also been done for our statistics and the extra information which will be inserted into the documentary. Graphics can be used as captions on the screen in order to label and identify the interviewee.
