This document summarizes research on the global impact of climate change on the suitability of lands for growing coffee and cocoa. The researchers used climate models to project changes in temperature and precipitation in coffee- and cocoa-growing regions by 2030 and 2050. They found that rising temperatures and shifting rainfall patterns will significantly reduce suitable land for both crops, especially at higher elevations. The researchers plan to further analyze the relationship between projected suitability changes and actual coffee and cocoa production levels to improve impact assessments on perennial crops under climate change.
