Students will be able to locate and explore relevant sources using Netrekker. Students will be able to perform an internet search, sort response list, and navigate web pages in Netrekker. Students will be able to record simple notes and place information into a time line. What Is the Problem to Be Solved: What types of transportation are there and when were they invented? Proposed Learning Activities and Projects: Social Studies Lesson on types of transportation using Scott Foresman curriculum, including reading the chapter, completing main idea/supporting details graphic organizer, and individual completion of review questions. Lesson on how to use Netrekker to locate websites including locating a virtual transportation museum, performing a scavenger hunt, completing a time line worksheet. List of Materials and Technology Needed for Lesson: Student computers, access to Netrekker website, Time line anchor chart, Time Line worksheets, pencils Responsibilities of Each Team Member (What will each of you do/teach in the lesson?) Example: Day 1, Day 2, etc. or a similar format. Day 1, Ms. Schreiber will conduct a social studies lesson on transportation from the Scott Foresman textbook. She will preteach key vocabulary words, students will take turns reading the chapter aloud, she will review by having students complete the main idea/supporting details graphic organizer together as a class, students will then complete the review handout. Day 2, I will conduct the lesson on Netrekker within the library, while each student is using a student computer. Description of Information Literacy Skills Integrated into the Lesson: Students will become familiar with the Netrekker website. Students will conduct a search using key words. Students will sort the results list by readability level. Students will learn how to recognize links and follow them. Students will use the <Back> button to navigate a website. Students will also critically think about the search results and determine whether the information found will be useful for the assignment. Description of How Student Learning Will Be Assessed:

Collette Knight Collaborative Lesson Plan Page 1 The teacher will assess by observation, higher order thinking skills questions, how well students participate in the completion of the graphic organizers, grading the review sheet, and verifying that students completed the Time Line worksheet correctly. How Will You Evaluate the success of the Collaborative Planning Process? I will evaluate the success of this lesson by assessing the students during the interactive lesson and the completion of their worksheets. Also, I will ask the students how they feel about their experience with Netrekker. Student responses to the review questions will also assist me in determining whether the lesson was successful. I will also meet with the third grade teacher I worked with and together we will discuss how well the lessons worked and if there is anything we would add or change.
