There are two types of electronic communication: simplex and duplex. Simplex is one-way communication while duplex allows two-way communication.
Electromagnetic waves can propagate through the air in two ways: longitudinal and transverse. Radio waves can travel from the transmitting to receiving antenna through two paths: ground waves and sky waves. Ground waves travel along the earth's surface while sky waves are reflected back to earth by the ionosphere.
The ionosphere affects electromagnetic wave propagation at communication frequencies. It is divided into layers D, E, and F which refract radio waves differently based on factors like electron density, frequency, and angle of incidence.
