Comparing the health cultures of the following countries;

                    UK, USA,Finland and Japan
      Research the trends in health in your designated countries
      Research the issues and policies that are being discussed and promoted in
      your chosen country

Present your findings to the group and produce an information leaflet in
conjunction with your presentation

   • Start by reading the information about Japan on pages 36-39 of your text
     book
   • Use the internet (primarily) to try and answer the following questions
   • Think about how you will structure this work


When comparing these 3 countries and their attitudes to health ask yourself the
following questions:
    • What is the economic background of the country?
    • Define HEALTH!
    • What is the current Population? Is it rising, falling or stable?
    • What is the average life expectancy?
    • What are the current trends in health? (nutrition and exercise)
    • Have there been changes in attitudes to health?
    • What is the history of the country in terms of health, nutrition and
      exercise?
    • Staple diets? Does the population eat healthily?
    • What diseases are prevalent in the country?
    • What is the population’s general attitude to sport and exercise?
    • FACTS AND FIGURES! LINKS?


How do governments get involved?
   • How has the Government got involved with improving the health of the
     population?
• What health goals/targets does the government have?
  • When are these targets to be met?
  • What campaigns has the government put into action?
  • Have they been successful?
