TYPES OF ADJECTIVES 1-SYLLABLE 2-SYLLABLE -Y  LONG Short   Pretty   Comfortable Big   Happy    Expensive Fast   Funny   Stubborn Small   Friendly   Exciting   Hard   Easy   Boring Quick   Ugly   Interesting   Nice    Noisy  Handsome
1-Syllable adjectives To form the comparative add  –er Short-shorter Fast- Faster Small- smaller Nice- nicer If the adjective ends in 1 vowel + 1 consonant,  double  the consonant: Big- bigger  Thin- Thinner
2-Syllable adjectives -y To make the comparative drop the –y and add –ier Happy-happier Friendly-friendlier Ugly- uglier Noisy- noisier Funny-funnier
Long adjectives To make the comparative add MORE More comfortable More stubborn More exciting More interesting More expensive More handsome More boring
THAN When you compare two things we sometimes use THAN E.G. My brother is younger  than  yours Mark is more intelligent  than  Jim   You are funnier  than  me
Irregular adjectives Good- better Bad- worse Far  - Farther  (usually only for distance) -  Further  ( it can also have abstract meaning )
