QUALITY CONTROL
Procedure or set of procedures to ensure
that a manufactured product or performed
service adhere to a defined set of quality
criteria.
COMPUTER AIDED QUALITY CONTROL ( CAQC)
• Computer-aided quality control is when computers
are used to inspect and test products that are being
manufactured.
• It is an engineering application that can oversee the
operations of machinery and ensure everything is
being produced as per required standards.
Computer Aided Quality Control
 It allows for a digital inspection of the quality of the products being
produced and putting in place statistical process control (SPC) and
producing necessary documentation.
 CAQC can also ensure a failure mode and effects analysis,
otherwise known as FMEA, is put into action.
 It can allow for advanced product quality planning and a dimensional
tolerance stack-up analysis on computer-aided design models using
the product and manufacturing information.
Objectives of CAQC
Increase productivity in inspection process.
Increase productivity.
Reduce lead time
Reduce wastage due to scrap or rework
Segments of CAQC
I. Computer Aided Inspection (CAI)
II. Computer Aided Testing (CAT)
Computer Aided Inspection
Computer Aided Inspection
Computer Aided Inspection allows users to process 3D scan data and
determine that all part specifications have been met.
By providing graphical comparisons between CAD models and parts
that can be used for first article inspection, alignment, analysis or wear,
validating tooling, and both 2D & 3D geometric dimensioning and
tolerance (GD&T).

Computer aided quality control
Computer Aided Testing
• The application of computers to control either analog or digital test
techniques in order to evaluate the quality of components and
products.
• In this method simulations are applied to the manufactured part in
which stressed, moments and other factors are applied to the part.
By which strength, toughness, flexibility and endurance is checked.
Computer Aided Testing
Computer aided quality control
Advantages of CAQC
 Data harvesting
 100% testing and inspection
 use of non contact sensors
 Computerized Feedback Control system
