1. USING A MULTIMEDIA AND IMAGE
MANIPULATION PROGRAM
‘’People learn better from words
and pictures than from words
alone’’.
-Richard Mayer
2. The combined content in forms such as
text, audio, pictures, or animations is
called multimedia. This is a computer-
controlled integration represented
stored transmitted, stored, and
processed digitally. In this unit we will
learn how to put our ideas and
information in a meaningful content we
will open our minds to wonderful
possibilities in meeting the needs of
twenty-first century multimedia.
3. MULTIMEDIA PRIVACY
We take images and videos and share them with
friends across networks.
There is a concern about the loss of privacy in such
data we must look into the security and privacy of
multimedia data during storage, processing, and
communication.
Such the capture and processing are by two
different devices (often in two different locations),
multimedia communication is critical.
4. Online deception
Also known as digital deception, digital
disinformation, internet deception or cyber
deception, is the use of information and
communications technology to deceive
other online users, unfortunately, many
people are easily deceived because they
want to believe what they see, hear and
read online is real and attainable.
5. For us not to fall victim to online
deception, we must refrain from
sharing personal information
online, the less personal
information we share, the lower
probability of being attacked or
approached online.
6. CENSORED WORKS
One of the first nicknames for the internet was the
information superhighway.
It was made to provide an average person with fast
access to a limitless amount of data.
For many users, that is exactly what assessing the
internet is like.
For others, it is as if the information superhighway
has some major roadblocks in the form of internet
censorship.
7. .
Censorship can range from well-intentioned
desires to protect us from unsuitable content
authoritarian attempts to control a nations
access to information. No matter what the
censors’ reasons are, the end result is the same
– they block access to web pages they identify
as undesirable.
Several software products in the market can
limit or block access to specific websites. These
program are also known as filters.
8. Defamatory reproductions
Defamation, as defined by Mariam-webster, is the
act of communicating false statements about a
person.
These can be slanderous libelous statements that
could damage the reputation of a person.
9. The internet and social media are great
tools in general, but they are also an
effective breeding ground for potentially
libelous statements.
Many people have learned that the internet
allows people to speak their minds almost
too easily.
The internet is full of interesting websites
where someone could intentionally or
accidentally leave a potentially defamatory
comment or post.
10. Creative Commons
Creative commons is a nonprofit organization
devoted to expanding the range of creative
works.
It is made available for others to build upon
legally and to share.
CC
11. It has released several copyright license
known as creative commons licenses, free of
charge to public.
Creative commons licenses do not replace
copyright, but are based upon it.
12. They replace individual negotiations for
specific rights between the copyright owner
and the licensee, which are necessary under
an all rights-reserved copyright
management.
13. The result is agile, low-overhead, and low-
cost copyright management regime,
profiting both copyright owners and
licensees.
14. Here are some examples:

• Open-source software
• Educational resources
• Creative works
• Research papers
15. ‘’GIMP’’
GIMP is an acronym for GNU manipulation
Program. It is a freely distributed program for
such task as photo retouching, image
composition, and image authoring.
It is a cross platform image editor available for
GNU/Linux, OS X, windows, and other
operating systems. Since it is free software,
we can change its source code and distribute
our changes.
16. Let’s Remember; Multimedia and the internet
have opened windows to connect everything
with the click of a mouse.
17. New windows have also opened to issues
that can test how much character a person
possess.
As responsible persons, we act according to
what our conscience tells us.
We should avoid bad things that can affect
others.
Our conscience is the inner voice that tells
us how to act, always think before we click.
18. Open and Close GIMP
To open GIMP, we double click the GIMP icon; or
click start, and look for the GIMP shortcut and
click it. This will open the GIMP working
environment.
