Key Challenges and GAPs
SCM Modernization
Key GAPs Office Depot’s Workaround
Lack of Groovy scripts maturity level Office Depot’s retail business process warranted a complex groovy
script to enable functionalities examples:
• Sales Audit rules
• Validation rules based on the Order flow such as “if order is
in draft and sales amt > X, initiate order approval”
Workaround:
• Complex Sales audit rules are housed into legacy system
• Simpler rules are enabled in SCM Cloud
Additional information in Sales Order • Office Depot required Tender and Credit Card information to be
captured at the header and line level.
• Context sensitive EFFs have been defined as multi-rows EFFs are
not supported.
PO Header additional information EFFs are not available at the PO header level therefore, OD had to
use delimited (||) PO DFFs to capture multiple information
BPA Load No FBDI available thus manual workaround has been implemented.
Service mapping Not all OM attributes to be mapped via service mapping from OM to
PO – i.e. End Customer address therefore, additional mapping and
parsing warranted by integration layer development.

Lesson’s learned
• Based on the backlog, must identify gaps pro-actively, do not wait for sprint cycle to avoid
timeline impact
• The nature of retail centric business solution in cloud for OD warranted new Oracle development and
enhancement request. The development and enhancement cycle increased the lead time to get
standard resolution which in turn has impacted timeline
• Engage Oracle product development early in the implementation cycle (leverage ISM/CSM).
Oracle product development was instrumental to help and assist OD to find the alternate feasible
solution. Oracle development, OD and SI (Capgemini) had a weekly cadence to address strategic
issues related to the implementation
• Involve network security team to address topic such as whitelisting, SSO, vendor security assessment,
firewall assessment
• Familiarization of production cloning and resulting data masking need to avoid sensitive data breach
• Quarterly and Monthly patch requires pro-active planning. Regression plan is imperative for a
successful production upgrade
• Industrialization of the regression testing is much required for speed-to-value.

Multi-row context EFF not being supported by Order Management.
Please track ER#24976749 for the multi-row context EFF support.
In regards to what we meant by multi-row context EFF, a multi-row
context allows to associate multiple sets of values with the same
object instance. For example, for a BOOK table, you could create a
multi row context named chapters that contains a segment for
chapter and a segment for number of pages. Multiple chapters can
then be associated with each book in the BOOK table.

All rights reserved |Presentation Title | Author | Date Key Challenges and GAPs SCM Modernization Key GAPs Office Depot’s Workaround Lack of Groovy scripts maturity level Office Depot’s retail business process warranted a complex groovy script to enable functionalities examples: • Sales Audit rules • Validation rules based on the Order flow such as “if order is in draft and sales amt > X, initiate order approval” Workaround: • Complex Sales audit rules are housed into legacy system • Simpler rules are enabled in SCM Cloud Additional information in Sales Order • Office Depot required Tender and Credit Card information to be captured at the header and line level. • Context sensitive EFFs have been defined as multi-rows EFFs are not supported. PO Header additional information EFFs are not available at the PO header level therefore, OD had to use delimited (||) PO DFFs to capture multiple information BPA Load No FBDI available thus manual workaround has been implemented. Service mapping Not all OM attributes to be mapped via service mapping from OM to PO – i.e. End Customer address therefore, additional mapping and parsing warranted by integration layer development.

All rights reserved |Presentation Title | Author | Date Lesson’s learned • Based on the backlog, must identify gaps pro-actively, do not wait for sprint cycle to avoid timeline impact • The nature of retail centric business solution in cloud for OD warranted new Oracle development and enhancement request. The development and enhancement cycle increased the lead time to get standard resolution which in turn has impacted timeline • Engage Oracle product development early in the implementation cycle (leverage ISM/CSM). Oracle product development was instrumental to help and assist OD to find the alternate feasible solution. Oracle development, OD and SI (Capgemini) had a weekly cadence to address strategic issues related to the implementation • Involve network security team to address topic such as whitelisting, SSO, vendor security assessment, firewall assessment • Familiarization of production cloning and resulting data masking need to avoid sensitive data breach • Quarterly and Monthly patch requires pro-active planning. Regression plan is imperative for a successful production upgrade • Industrialization of the regression testing is much required for speed-to-value.
