This document discusses different models for defining normal and abnormal behavior. The medical model considers abnormal behavior to involve disturbances in thought, perception, or psychomotor activities. The statistical model defines normal behavior as falling within two standard deviations of norms established through statistical analysis. The socio-cultural model defines normal behavior as adhering to the beliefs, norms, and values of one's society, while abnormal behavior breaks these standards. The behavioral model views normal behavior as adaptive and abnormal behavior as maladaptive behaviors learned through experience.
