This document is a thesis submitted by Gonçalo Marques in fulfillment of the requirements for a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. It examines engine condition monitoring and fuel consumption monitoring at Portugália Airlines as routes to operational optimization and cost savings. The thesis reviews the flight profiles of Portugália's Fokker 100 fleet to evaluate engine usage. It also uses an engine condition monitoring tool called COMPASS to analyze engine parameter trends and identify potential issues. Additionally, a fuel monitoring tool was developed to actively track fuel consumption across both fleets and link maintenance with flight operations. The analysis confirmed that engine condition monitoring and fuel monitoring are valuable tools for optimization that provide indicators for improvements and cost savings opportunities.
