Will be provided with a form to obtain a community borrowers card.

• #7: Visible web: what you see on the surface Invisible or deep web: library catalogues, journal indexes, firewalled, etc.- File types: PDF, html, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Flash, etc.
• #8: Google automatically joins search terms with AND, therefore there is no need to include itOR must be capitalized to be processed as ORNo () or nested searchingExcludes works+ disables synonymsDouble quotes for phrase searchingNo truncationStop words: all words are searched, except operators OR and AND if they are not in a phrase
• #9: Instant search: turn on or off (turned on and you cannot use I’m feeling lucky button)I’m feeling lucky: takes you to the first page of the results list (ie. Search KSS, brings you to Kelowna Secondary School home page)Drag and drop: find a great website or get some great results? From search results, click the individual link and drag it to your desktop to create an easy link, use folders to organize, etcCopy the whole search and results to a desktop link by clicking and dragging the google icon in the address barStar favourite results to bring them to the top of your list or move them up the results list for other people’s searchesClick the magnifying glass to see a page previews (similar to page abstract), click again to hide previewsClick the similar link to find similar pagesUse the cached feature to see a snapshot of the page as it was the day it was indexed (good for pages that have moved, or when you get an http 404 page not found error)– tells you date it was crawled and highlights your search terms (some page pwners choose to have this hidden from searches)
• #10: Books: type in books about ____ and Google will link to books from Google books’ indexClicking on the title and you will see your search terms highlights and book informationBuy this book takes you to an online store where you can purchase it. Images: Adding the word pics or pictures will bring back images relevent to your search term (rather than foing a Google Image search)Local: Search for only stores, business, etc., in your neighbourhood, city, or town. Results displayed on a map with links to reviews, directions, and other informationMovies: Search: movies, showtimes, or the name of a current film – Will bring up reviews and show times for movies playing near you (must have a saved location)Search for the movie’s name to get theatre and showtimes near youSearch movie:education, will search for films related to a specific actor, director, or plot detailResults will include ratings and online reviewsMusic: info about artsists, songs, albums and where to purchase.
